Our commission for this project was based on our experience of maximising properties gross internal floor area.

At Playfield Crescent we successfully achieved this through utilising our clients permitted development rights to convert the roof space into a large double bedroom, complete with en-suite and an extension at ground floor level. It was challenging to create the extension as the boundary was not a standard shape, it had various angles and the garden had quite a small footprint. We overcame these through designing a contemporary shape with large sections of glazing, allowing our client to utilise the internal and external spaces as one, whilst retaining an adequate sized garden and access throughout the site. The façade treatment consists of Rockpanel cladding, demonstrating that traditional materials are not the only option available and the resultant design creates a striking contrast between old and new.
